Consultation – have your say!

Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone Masterplan

Consultation Process

The big news of 2017 has been the acquisition of new premises for Westair Flying Services and we hope to have the Flying School operating from Westair Hangar 8 (at the western end of the airfield) from the 8th January 2018. This is a big change and it will be great to move into clean, modern premises in line with our plans to grow private and commercial pilot training at Blackpool Airport. This move comes at an exciting time as the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone Masterplan is developed.

At the moment, and until 21st December 2017,  the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone Masterplan is open for consultation and whilst this process is underway it gives all of us an opportunity to provide feedback to the planning department  and shape how the airport might look in the decades ahead of us.

For example “the council’s vision” has no RW31/13 and clearly many would like to see this retained. The Vision shows possible buildings to the east of the airport, which are very close to existing housing and will impact residents. But, it’s down to all of us to give this type of feedback into the consultation. The more people that feed in means that the possibility of some of these issues reduces.

The plan and the photos are at this stage just a “vision”, this is not a done deal and our views will shape what happens. However, if we stand by and do not have our say, about runways, apron sizes, hangar positions, road links, car parks and it’s not what we would have liked to see for the future, then it will be our fault.

The council must listen during the consultation and must take in the views that are presented to them, by you.

So take some time before the 21st December 2017 and feed in your thoughts to the process – click on the link below.
